As a student-run publication, we hold ourselves to our own tradition of high-quality, robust journalism, alongside the standards of the Independent Press Standards Organisation’s Editors’ Code of Practice; where possible, and despite being unable to sign up as an official party to the code, we seek to adhere to its guidelines. This is supplemented by a set of specific requirements outlined below. Content Accuracy
Our correspondents are, where relevant, free to draw their own conclusions in their own commentary.
Our correspondents will, wherever applicable, support all provided views with sufficient evidence or reason to justify their position.
Our correspondents will, wherever relevant, examine the views of others with professionalism and objectivity.
Referencing and Citations
Our correspondents will, in all cases, provide references or citations to support factual or evidential claims in the form of hyperlinks to provide ease of access to their source material.
Our correspondents will, wherever feasible, assess the provenance of used sources prior to publication.
Our correspondents will, in all cases of use of materials authored or created by others, provide appropriate references and attribution as required by the relevant licenses, laws, or conventions of practice.
Professional Standards
Our correspondents will, in all cases of considering the work of others, maintain a professional yet critical level of engagement.
This will include, at all times, refraining from defamation or other forms of derogatory address.
Our correspondents will, whenever significant contributions to content have been made by a third party, appropriately acknowledge and credit the contributions of said third parties.
